Indigent Defense: A Prosecutor’s Perspective

If you are currently representing indigent criminal defendants, have represented them, or even thinking about representing them, then this course is for you. This course is designed to help you avoid common pitfalls in representing indigent defendants. Topics covered include “how to avoid and be prepared for 60-1507 and malpractice claims”; “getting to know your prosecutor”; “common discovery issues”; and “time management”.

Larry graduated KU law school class of 1985 and began his private practice in Coffeyville, KS. Larry’s primary practice from 1985 to 1998 was in “trash” law, by representing the largest private trash hauler /landfill operator in Southeast KS, Northeast OK, and Southwest MO. During that same time Larry represented indigent defendants and retained criminal clients throughout Southeast KS and Northeast OK. In 2000, Larry began working in the Montgomery County Attorney’s office and is now the longest serving County Attorney in MG County history. Larry has tried over 100 civil and criminal jury trials.
