Electronics in Courtroom - PROHIBITION

Effective immediately, Douglas County will not allow the use of electronic devices in the gallery of the courtrooms.  If you are an attorney handling the case at hand, you may use your electronic devices, but no one in the gallery may use or have out electronic devices, including phones, tablets or computers, without specific permission from the Court.  A future, more detailed, policy will follow.

Bottom line, attorneys should tell your clients to leave their phones in their vehicles.  If you are an attorney, you can only use your phone while at the podium/counsel table dealing with the case currently being called by the Court.  Attorneys are prohibited from using a phone/IPad/etc while in the gallery waiting for their case to be called.  If you need to read an email or send a text, you go to the hallway.
